Based on its Facebook announcement and media reports, Philippines AirAsia will start to fly the Manila to Taipei route on November 1, 2016. Flights between Cebu and Taipei will start on November 4, 2016. The airline is scheduled to operate daily flights from Manila, and thrice-a-week schedule from Cebu.

"In anticipation of the influx of tourists and travelers to Taipei following the recent easing of visa rules for Filipinos, we are thrilled to announce that AirAsia is launching direct flights to Taipei from our hubs in Manila and Cebu this November with promo fares now available online and through our partner travel agents nationwide," Philippines AirAsia CEO Captain Dexter Comendador said.

The announcement of flights comes after Taiwan eases visa rules for travellers from the Philippines as well as Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and India starting September 1, 2016. It will most probably ease the requirements for a citizen traveling to a foreign country.

Fares from Cebu to Taipei are currently at P888 with a travel period from November 25, 2016 to March 25, 2017, while fares from Manila to Taipei are at P1,488 with a travel period from November 25, 2016 to March 23, 2017.

According to data provided publicly by Planespotters.net, Philippines AirAsia currently operates 13 Airbus A320-200 aircraft. Most of its aircraft are from AirAsia Berhad in Malaysia. The budget airline also flies to 13 domestic and international destinations with its hub at the grounds of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
